There will be two levels, with the second series of 6 classes building upon skills learned in the first series.
Classes will be one hour long. Intro class is held after a regular Shinkendo class, giving students a chance to observe intermediate/advanced practice if they arrive early.

Shinkendo can be translated to mean "The way of the true sword". Shinkendo emphasizes very traditional, safe and effective swordsmanship, which leads to both practical ability as well as an understanding of classical martial arts. This art is a comprehensive study of what the Japanese samurai once practiced and depended on, and ia an amalgamation of several styles of Japanese sword. Training will include sword swinging drills and comprehensive sword drawing and cutting forms practiced alone that simulate combat. In addition we will cover sword etiquette and safe handling skills. Regular practice of this art will foster increased focus, concentration and memory skills, as well as upper body and core toning. Shinkendo is practiced from standing positions, and does not require falling, kneeling, or wearing protective equipment.

Please register through Livermore Area Recreation and Parks District.
Please show 15 minutes early to first class. Minors must be accompanied by legal guardian at first class.
Wear loose comfortable clothes appropriate for light stretching and movement.
